Having a clever link building tactic is extremely advantageous in many ways. You will not only get good search engine traffic, but you will also get loads of traffic from article directories, and other sites that link to your website or blog. A few things to consider is that the link building can do many different things such as drive more traffic too your site via related articles, and from sites that link relating to your website. When quality link building it there are many advantages to website owners below are some things to consider in you link building plan.

1. Links pointing to the internal pages

In a website you want things such as macho text to be optimized with keywords and diverse but having links within the site pointing to the home page is beneficial Back links are important that are pointing to your internal pages of your web site In this case back links are countered in numbers screened via page visibility information.

2. Optimal Anchor Text

Linking back to blogs authority sites and other sites that are possibly related to your pages objective is done using good anchor text. When creating anchor text keep in mind that the correct keywords must be in association with the commerce your site is doing. Anchor text has an HTML link inside it and when a site is spider by Google it will be indexed as such and assist in good online traffic as well.

3. Associative Relevance of the linking site is important

The site linking to your site, other than an authority site, is important to web site owners. An example is if you built a website that has page content dealing with NFL players it is best to locate similar sites that have information about NFL players. Niche establishment and relevancy should also be in conjunction with article site and article directories that have to do, in some way with your niche. Getting an article directory flourishing in ballet is not the one you would like to link with if you were the above web site discussing NFL player not ballet. It’s clear to see how to connect relevancy and that it is important in traffic to your site.

4. Take advantage of websites with the better authority in your niche:

Take a good look at article sites and authority sites that have relevancy in them to your particular niche. Take a look at their other page rank or Alexa score. If these sites are characteristically better than your site start building links with them or create a like strategy that involves them as well.

As you can see link building is more complex that you thought so it might be advantageous to hire a professional in SEO Consultant Services and link building experience. The downfall of not using the correct SEO Consultant Services is that conversely you will be missing out on traffic to your website

This little story is about Michael, a computer aficionado, who loved working on his computer most of the time. In his personal life and professional, computer technology is his livelihood. He knew nothing about SEO.

Michael was comfortable with his life until his employer had to lay him off along with several other employees. This is when Michael discovered his time on the computer was only a hobby and he had to find a means to supplement his unemployment.

He decided to make some money with his computer on the Internet. Easier said than done, but Michael dove in and learned all he could about Internet marketing. It was more time consuming than he had realized.

Michael was doing everything right. He took some classes on Internet marketing and learned how to build a storefront website. This took a lot of time, but he forged ahead learning all he could… and doing it all by himself.

As he dug deeper into his research the information became overwhelming. Just as he learned article marketing, blogging needed to be learned. Then came Joint Ventures, Private Label Rights, Search Engine Optimization, Google AdSense and Google AdWords. Tools for keyword research and keyword analytics, site optimization and most of all, he had to improve his writing skills, because he wanted to learn more about website copy.

Now keep in mind, Michael was doing everything right, however he was missing one important factor. What? Well, he didn’t have the time to run his business.

Oh, sure. He had a few products to sell on his website. He even looked into promoting some affiliate products. But he did not have the time he needed to market his website, make contacts, send promotional emails, write articles and do some selling.

And what about his website? There wasn’t enough written content to engage any visitor, let alone a potential customer.

Michael needed content, best of all, he needed SEO content. Search Engine Optimization is one very important factor that was missing from his marketing campaign.

He learned about SEO, but did not have the time to incorporate the procedure into his business…because he just didn’t have the time.

But we’ll have to give Michael a lot of credit. He never gave up on himself or his research. One day he discovered, through his research, that he needed Search Engine Optimized content on his website and he did a very, very smart thing.

Michael hired an SEO content writer. It was another expense added to his business, however, it had a great return on his investment.

More and more visitors came to his website and as a result of SEO content, more sales. As people searched for his products and information, his website was listed in their search results.

Michael could not be happier. After hiring the SEO content writer, he discovered how much more time he had to conduct business and not worry so much about his website.

He is building several more websites to market more products, leaving the content to be created by his SEO content writer…a very successful strategy.
Every website owner needs visitors and potential customers to find his site on the World Wide Web. If you would like your website to get noticed and your visitors happy they found their relevant information

There are a number of businesses operating on the internet today and many more are being added by the hour, if not the minute. The existence of so many online businesses results in an environment which is highly competitive and only the most innovative or strongest contenders can survive such intense competition.

However, the ones who are successful did not have some inherent quality from the beginning. In fact, they simply employed the right techniques and tools for marketing their products or services. Again, these techniques and tools are not confined to a select few but are actually available to every single one of the online businesses that exist today. The primary source where these tools and techniques can be acquired is through a company that holds expertise in providing search engine optimization or the SEO service.

SEO service, as the name suggests, is optimizing the search engines of various commonly used websites so that the client’s website comes up on the top when any web surfer searches for particular keywords on these search engines. Another way for explaining the concept could be that through various tools likes videos, articles, blogs etc., the hired company improves the ranking of their client’s website with the famous websites that employ search engines, which in turn, leads to the client’s website showing up on the first page of search results. The idea is to increase the number of visitors or traffic of a website which should in the long run translate into more sales and more income for the client.

Despite the fact that these services are considered to be primarily employed by big and successful sites, these services hold the potential to boost the popularity of any site provided the products and services provided are genuine. There are multiple ways an online business owner can find out if he or she requires the help of a SEO service provider.

The best way is to check the exact position of the client’s website on a popular search engine. Another way is to check customer retention of the website i.e. how many customers end up coming back to the site. A professional who holds expertise in SEO can formulate a detailed newsletter and other enticements for attracting new customers and retaining the old ones. Social bookmarking is another tool used by companies who specialize in these services.

Having an online marketing professional or certified SEO service provider is important because, even though these tools can improve the traffic of a website, they can also ruin the website’s reputation if not used properly. Therefore, as a result, this service can only be employed properly by an online marketing professional as it consists of techniques and tools that are very complicated. However, that is not to say that this cannot be done by the entrepreneur too. An enterprising owner of an online business can achieve SEO on his own but he or she will have to devote a lot of time and study to the field. Furthermore, an understanding of the target audience’s mind is also very important to understand and employ SEO tools.

The Internet Marketing Dictionary describes keyword research as the following: Keyword Research – “Keyword Research is the action of searching for and finding those keywords which users actually use to find specific content on the Internet.”

As online marketers, our constant goal is to achieve search engine dominance. Increasing your search engine ranking is simply done by focusing on keyword research.

I’ve mentored many individuals that have over looked this very important step. Obtaining a top search engine ranking is extremely competitive. This is mostly due to the competitiveness of the keyword phrases. When focusing on keyword phrases, there are elements that you must consider in your research.

For instance, you must focus on keyword phrases that doesn’t have strong competition, but are frequently searched for. A balance between the two must be made. It is possible for a website to have a ranked keyword phrase and not obtain its full optimization. If that phrase receive a low number of searches, that keyword is useless.

You must first find a keyword phrase that isn’t too competitive and receives an adequate number of monthly searches. The next step is to extensively check out your competitors. Less competition equals smaller bid prices. There are many keyword tools available online to assist you. Some are free to use while others charge a fee.

Upon completing your keyword research and verifying your choice of keywords and keyword phrases, it’s time to build your page around the keywords you’ve chosen. Construct your meta tags, titles, and web copy to include these keyword phrases. This will help inform the search engines what your web site content is so it may rank your website correctly.

Improving your search engine doesn’t stop here. You must also utilize link building and off page optimization tactics as well. Off page optimization demands constant effort that uses new content and additional links from third party websites. Your strategy doesn’t have to be complex. As a matter of fact, the most effective strategies are the most basic. Start with a link building plan that includes article directories, web site directories, blogs, and social bookmarking sites. Look for other resources where you can establish in bound links as well.

Remember these steps when it comes to keywords:

· Are they related to the product/services one wants to advertise,

· Does it have an adequate number of daily searches?

· What is the competition on keyword phase? Having little competition from other advertisers as possible because little competition usually means smaller bid prices. This is especially true for PPC advertisers and SEO experts. If you were an AdSense publishers it would be the opposite; highly competitive keywords with a high earning per click.

Your page should have a meaning that indicate that the user is willing to spend money (e.g. a high percentage of users searching for “iPod” might only look for general information on iPods but someone searching for “black iPod nano 8GB” most probably wants to buy one).

Since your articles can show up in the search engines for specific keywords, you’ll want to optimize” each article for a long-tailed keyword. Example below:

Long-Tailed Keyword: Black 7 Series BMW, Luxury 5 bedroom home in Aspen Colorado, Best online home based business opportunity

Short-Tailed Keyword: BMW, Luxury home, Online business

In general, search engine optimization efforts will give your business the exposure it needs to advertise whatever marketing product or service that you promote. It is also satisfying to know that certain SEO approaches make use of not only the established methods but have diversified into different areas online. Such activities will further improve your website’s rankings and get your business more exposure. This is being done following the patterns described below.

Internet Marketing

Internet marketing approaches are now being adopted by SEO professionals to increase your website’s relevancy. It is used to widen the scope of influence that your website has. A set of steps are taken or outsourced in order to achieve the task’s objectives. Much like traditional SEO practices, search engine marketing done this way will redirect your website’s characteristics to be applied specifically in the way internet marketing is being done.

There are numerous ways of making this happen and most of the activities involved work best after initial SEO modifications has been done on your website. Exposure and web interaction is the main focus of this new SEO pattern. Some examples of activities involved are listed below.

o Social media optimization
o Blog marketing
o Contextual advertising
o Content and article marketing

Pay-per-click

This is another form of SEO approach that designs ads and signs up your website to show as paid advertisements on search engine pages. There are different rates involved and guidelines may vary between search engines. It works in such a way that your website’s ad shows up on top of the number one spot or a specified are on the results pages. Each time a user clicks on your ad, you pay an amount based on the subscription rates that you have applied for.

It is a highly effective exposure tool. However, it would all be dependent on how intensified your marketing drive is and how much you would be willing to spend to expose your website this way. It is an expensive way to promote your website.

Targeted Press Releases

The principles of developing content are applied to your press release and efforts are directed on determining a high concentration of your target market online. Once your written materials are optimized and exposed this way, better responses can be expected as it is a more specified approach in advertising your website.

This approach, when done with optimization elements, produces a tremendous amount of traffic and popularity for your website. Written material is used as link bait and is positioned strategically to encourage a better response to your website. It is like a wide exposure on advertising but it is done based on analysis of user behavior online.

Once your search engine optimization is initialized, these activities can be explored to support the initial SEO tactics applied to your website. After all, search engine optimization is a continuous process. Attuning your marketing moves with the use of SEO elements will help you maintain what has been established by your initial SEO tactics.

If you have finished creating your website you are far from having a working end result. The website is nothing if it’s not actually linked to the rest of the Internet, if you don’t have traffic and visitors coming to check your content on a regular basis. A website is much more than the file. The whole notion of network or web is about connections and links.

So the first step once you’ve finished the development stage is to work on your SEO. SEO is the acronym for search engine optimization and it refers to the entire process through which you model, modify and alter your website so that it shows up as high as possible on search engines’ pages.

The value describing how highly you rank is called page rank or PR. Google uses the PR to establish the order in which its results are being shown. Of course, this is not the only criterion as it’s important to have relevant content, related to the searched for keyword or key phrase.

How does the search engine compute your PR? The formula is a bit complicated but the theoretical basis behind it is as simple as it can get. You need to have as much incoming links as possible and these links are better if they are from pages with high PR themselves. So your purpose as a SEO developer is to acquire as many back-links as possible and from websites which are in one way or another important or at least rank high on Google.

However, just getting these links won’t do the job. One of the key elements of a link is its anchor – the text you use inside the link. “Click Me” is probably one of the worst texts you can use. The more relevant the anchor the higher your site will rank when searching for relevant keywords. If you use “Cheap Laptops” as an anchor you will rank high when a search engine user searches for, you’ve guessed it, “Cheap Laptops”.

But search engine optimization is not just about link building. You also need to work on your site’s tags. HTML meta tags like “Keywords” or “Description” and even the title tag will make the difference between a search engine optimal and non-optimal page.

The actual content has to be carefully crafted as well. There are ideal keyword percentages to use all over your site which will guarantee a better score and PR. A keyword percentage tells you how often a certain keyword should occur on a page. Best percentages are usually around 5-10%.

Search engine optimization is a complex process but you can dive right into it by simply starting with the basics – link building, tag optimization and content fitting.

Are you thinking about hiring professionals to work on your website’s search engine optimization? If you are, then you are right on track. A significant amount of care in selecting your SEO provider should be observed. While it is true that SEO efforts increase your website’s search engine rankings, it is also wise to contemplate on how to get the most out of your investment in SEO efforts. Otherwise, you may not be getting the service that your business and website needs to meet your goals faster.

The following list will give you an idea of what to look for in your search engine optimization provider. There are certain measures that need to be checked to avoid any problems in the future. It is also wise that you focus your selection on not only the validity of activities to be used but also the quality of service being done.

These are the things that you need to look for in a provider:

o An in-depth focus on keyword research
o A study of audit on link popularity
o Analysis of your market segment’s community
o Adequate coding and content analysis
o A credible link building management protocol
o Effective internal link management
o An in-depth website analysis
o Ready support functions
o Enough awareness and coordination campaigns
o Regular reviews
o A credible and periodical rankings analysis

Bear in mind that search engine optimization does not stop after modifications are in place. A competent provider makes sure that the modifications applied to your website are well thought of and are based on how you actually conduct business. The way providers offer their services is a means for you to determine the quality of service that they propose. If it is something that promises not only optimization but the maintenance of your rankings, then there is a greater possibility that you are dealing with the right provider.

It is also best to keep a look out for providers who may opt to make use of unacceptable search engine optimization practices. These are practices easily searchable online. It is best to familiarize yourself with these so that you can easily detect if your provider makes use of any of the known patterns (unacceptable practices often change forms to avoid detection) so that your interests are well protected.

A good way to determine this is to take a look at how your provider sees the work being done based on the current website operation that you observe. Modifications should be tweaked in such a way that it supports all your marketing and business guides. A good indication would be that your provider gives you a clear analysis of how your website presently competes with other websites in your market segment. Efforts should also be shown in giving and analysis of how to manage rankings considering the present trend in your target market online.

To summarize, your SEO provider should be able to show you that search engine optimization efforts will deal with all aspects not only about your website but your business in general.

Considering the reality that you are reading this article online you have most likely used the internet in one way or another. Then you probably have used a search engine to search for information or a particular product. Have you ever noticed that some search phrases will return with millions of results for that keyword. How do search sites decide the order of the listings and why are they displayed in the order you see them? The answer is that there is a very precise reason why the listings are listed and it is related to search engine optimization.

The techniques and strategies to building websites to be attractive and friendly to search engines is called Search Engine Optimization or SEO.

You have probably noticed that when you run a search it does not come back with one listing. There is typically a list of about ten results then there is usually a next page button to continue reviewing the results. Have you ever clicked more than two or three pages? If so then you are one of the few who actually does, research has shown that most people do not look further than the second page of results. If you own a website you already know how important it is to be listed on the first couple pages.

In order to increase position on the first few pages of a search engine there are a couple ways to improve your website. The top three spots are the most coveted and will bring the highest results.

One of the simplest ways to get your page listed is by using keyword meta tags in your website code. A meta tag is line of code that describes the content of your website or page. The meta tags are invisible to people viewing the website, but the search engine crawlers use the tags to return the pertinent information the search websites to be indexed.

Search sites utilize crawlers to find and index websites, a crawler is a computer program that goes out into the internet and locates website pages. Sometimes these are also referred to as bots, robots or web spiders and they all basically do the same thing. They browse the web in a very specific way finding websites and scanning the code of the pages. They look for information like keywords, content and algorithms to return to the search website with the collected information so it can be indexed.

There are other factors to keep in mind when it comes to SEO, using meta tags is a good way to get start. Another very important factor to keep in mind is link exchanges with other relevant websites. Outgoing and incoming links on websites will also increase the weight of a page on the search sites. Taking time to build a solid link exchange with other websites will be extremely beneficial.

In order to get the attention of the search crawlers, the placement of keywords is imperative. It is also important to not over use the keyword or keyword stuff the content of your site. If the keyword is not used in a grammatically flowing way the search engines will penalize your site and rank it lower.

If you already have a website and have not spent much time working on SEO, there is no reason why you can not go back and make changes to start optimizing your pages. When creating pages for your website taking time to make them more attractive to the search engines is going to be of a huge advantage in the long run.

When you Google the word vitamins for example, you will read the following at the top of the results page: Results 1 – 10 of about 30,300,000 for vitamins. Without a question the online competition is a very tough one. Let me ask you a question. How much would you pay for the magic wand that can rank you number one on the page one, right away? Unfortunately the gadget doesn’t exist and most probably never will.

Yet another question remains: Can I ever rank number one on Google Search Results page? Cheer up! YOU CERTAINLY CAN. It is possible. If others did it you can too. Yet to get there you need to work on both aspects of your webpage. The offsite and the on-page factors.

The off site factor is considered the most important aspect of your page rank. However let us talk about the on-site factors today. We have written a few articles on outside linking which perhaps you want to peruse after you are done with the present piece.

By the way, you have absolute control on your on page SEO. First of all you make sure that your Title Tag is an accurate description of your product or service. Also you want to build the Titletag using high ranked keywords. Use the Google AdWords keyword-tool to find the right keywords. An example of the Title tag for one SEO provider page could be: Google search or Google search/SEO. When the website opens on Internet Explorer, the page title and the description shows above the web page. On the present Title tag example it should read: Google search/SEO-Windows Internet Explorer. Be it understood that Google brings up the page title not the Website title. Thus the title on each page of your website should be different.

Don’t worry about having your keywords on the page source. It happens that as Google visits your site, it reads the content or copy keywords most of all. On the other hand Google always reads your Page description and Title tags on the back of your page or so called “source”. Have your keywords squeezed in between the first 25 characters and then graciously repeat them several times on the first 20% of the content and use a few good ones instead of stuffing your copy with many awkward phrases carrying keywords. You will find that instead of helping your rank this practice may end up hindering your Google rank.

What convinces your visitors to buy after they land on your e-commerce webpage? The copy takes care of that. Your copy must clearly explain the benefits of your product or service. Copy must also appeal to emotional traits of family financial security, comfort or ownership pride. Google tends to pull WebPages with longer descriptions of products and benefits. Your copy on a single page should be 600 words or more to have preference by search engines. Obviously the call to action is an important part of a well thought copy.

Search engines like to visit sites that are easy to navigate. Reason why you want to have all your pages linked within themselves. Google also seems to prefer larger websites. Many times when I count the number of linked pages of a website on the first page of Google it has between 40 and 100 linked pages.

In wrapping. Work on your on-page optimization making your title and description tags with high ranked keywords as your first steps. Next write a long copy having your keyword at the beginning of the content. Finally build one larger website rather than several small ones. Do that and I’ll see you on page one of Google.

There are many businesses that are either new, or are new to the online environment. Their thoughts do not go beyond creating a seemingly nice website and hoping that potential customers will stumble upon their website and buy their products and services. While this is not destined to happen in any case, they find the websites of their competitors showing up in search listings while their own website is nowhere to be seen. Such companies should seriously consider search engine optimization and, if they themselves don’t have the expertise, they would rather entrust this job to professional companies or individuals.

You should be careful about who you hire for this work. There are individuals or even small companies posing as professionals who merely ask you for key words that represent your company and the products and services you offer and then create something that doesn’t make sense at all. On the other hand the truly professional people almost seem to get under your skin and figure out what exactly your company stands for and all the nuances of your products and services. Having done this they set about working on your website. Quite naturally, this approach is bound to yield good results.

If you don’t yet have your own web site, even better. One of these professional guys can build your website from scratch and seamlessly integrate all the keywords at just the right places throughout the content of your website. If done in this manner the end product will look far more professional than artificially flexing the content and inserting keywords just for the sake of search engine optimization.

Ask questions to check if the person or agency you hire is aware of the rules and regulations of the popular search engines and whether they are good at implementing them and also good at staying away from malpractices. The reason why this point is critical is that if they do something that is expressly prohibited by a search engines for something that is considered inappropriate, your website could be permanently banned by the search engines.

Once your website is ready, has all the important and relevant keywords placed at just the right places and optimized for search engines, you are now ready to address another important issue called link building. There are agencies that help you place links to your website on a whole lot of other sites that relate to your business in some manner. What happens then is that whenever someone visits any of these other sites they are able to see a link to your site as well. This provides search engines one more reason to increase the ranking of your website.

Professionals who provide these services have their charges based on different parameters. It depends on whether you want your website to be built from scratch or you want your existing website to be modified for search engine optimization. These agencies have different plans for ongoing maintenance of your website wherein they keep updating your website´s content as well as aligning with the ever changing guidelines of the popular search engines.

Regardless of the size of your business and what you expect from your online presence, search engine optimization is sure to make a big impact on your fortunes

The Internet today has burgeoned as an indispensable tool of modern life. We use it in a variety of ways- to learn, to access needed information, to search for data or articles on a topic, or even access online libraries at colleges and universities. We even use it to market goods and services that meet a particular need. No wonder it has been called the most important invention since the wheel. In fact the present generation of the 1990s and beyond can be dubbed the Internet generation, so profuse is its use by them on mobile phones, laptops, handhelds and personal computers.

Given that everybody and his grandma now knows how to use the Internet for a variety of reasons, there are stacks of information available out there. It has therefore become supremely important to classify and categorize information so that it can be accessed easily and without much delay. The quality of information is also important. In fact all information on the Web comes from home pages on web servers in different areas of the world. The speed at which it is relayed depends on the distance of the web server from you and the number of people accessing the same information at the same time.

All this also points to the popularity of the web site or web page containing the information, and the type of information it contains. As information is constantly updated, computer programs called bots (short for robots) crawl the Web for updated information. The more you change and update the information on your web pages, the more relevant the website is and the more important it is to people searching for information on that particular topic, the higher will be its ranking in terms of web pages that relate to a specific topic. Search engine programs crawl the Web constantly looking for new information to categorize, classify and rank. One way they do this is by looking at keywords or terms that are repeated in the information contained on a web page. These keywords can also be included in the meta descriptions of web pages. As information access becomes the key to its marketability, the work of getting websites or web pages to the top of search engine pages has developed into a separate field called Search Engine Optimization.

Over the years, there have developed several methods and techniques that SEO experts use to get websites to the top rank in the search pages of search engines. On the other hand, the methods that search engine firms and browsers use for categorizing information are industry secrets never revealed. They may also change these formulae and criteria from time to time. Thus SEO experts are constantly left guessing as to how to get the best ranking for their client websites.

Search engine optimization also focuses on your page’s display speed as it is important in achieving success with your website. The idea is to keep your web pages more concise and streamlined so that search engine crawlers associate your content with all the objects added to your pages. If your pages are able to show a high display speed, it only means that your pages are optimized correctly.

Advantages of giving focus to this side of search engine optimization are listed below.

o It increases customer satisfaction
o It increases profits
o It minimizes cost
o It promotes accessibility
o It makes maintenance of your pages easier

Making page display speed one of your goals in search engine optimization has a lot of advantages. It would take your SEO efforts to the next level. Some strategies do not touch such measures as it takes highly technical knowledge to perform. However, once perfected, it not only gives your web pages the desired look and feel but also increases the possibilities of gaining a higher search engine ranking. The list below shows some of the procedures involved in this task.

o Reduction of initial display time
o Optimization of Java scripts to promote execution speed
o Resizing and optimization of images
o Optimization of multimedia content
o Conversion of layout and style to CSS standards

The objective of this task is to convert your HTML and multimedia elements into a more readable form. To prepare your website for this type of task, you need to consider having a review of all the materials that are present on your web pages. Numerous obstacles have been observed especially when multimedia and other elements are added to a web page. However, since these elements mainly give a more attractive look to your website, ways have been formulated to transform these elements into a more search engine friendly structure.

Consider directing your SEO efforts into accomplishing as much streamlining efforts to prepare your materials for search engine indexing. Your website may have unwanted objects or components that can be replaced by more manageable web forms. Redirecting your efforts to focus on this aspect will help your website gain a better page rank. That being said, it is wise to prompt your SEO provider to make efforts to deal with this task in SEO.

Search engine optimization is a matter of eliminating obstacles that hinder the favorable indexing of your website. Adding other “more useful” objects in this sense, would promote more satisfactory page display speed. If you cannot do away with certain objects that you show on your web pages, it is best to consult your provider and ask if they can perform enough modification to restructure the codes to a more acceptable form. This will greatly enhance your SEO protocol and will make probabilities of achieving goals a lot higher.

The various search engine have different algorithms in order to establish which website appear higher in the SERPS (search engine ranking pages). Search engines such as Yahoo and Bing still rely predominantly on on-page factors such as correct html, meta data and copywriting, however, Google (the undoubted heavyweight of search engines) holds an increased importance on backlinks (links from external websites pointing to yours).

Google uses Page Rank which is a link analysis algorithm, named after Larry Page (co-founder of Google). Page Rank is Google measure of ‘importance’ of the webpage and has a numerical value assigned between 0-10 with 10 being the greatest possible page rank and 0 being the lowest. For example the New York Times currently has a Page Rank of 7 whereas a new website will usually have 0.

In order to increase the Page Rank of your website a backlink strategy must be undertaken. This article will highlight some of the different methods used to obtain backlinks and will discuss their basic merits and downfalls.

Link Exchange – Link exchanges have now been around for many years, with numerous programs designed to spurt out emails to all and sundry asking for link exchanges. A link exchange is basically when a webmaster requests a backlink from your website in return for a backlink from their website. A few years ago this method of creating backlins was effective, today links of this nature hold little weight, therefore your time is better spent looking at other methods of link building.

Article Marketing – Article websites such as EzineArticles will publish unique articles that you have written, in turn you may have two self serving links in the Authors resource box. This is a great way of building links as it can also be viral. If your article is compelling enough people will blog and use the article elsewhere, thereby virally increasing the number of links obtained from the article. Remember, the article must be original and informative otherwise it may not get published, and even if it does it could have a detrimental effect on your business if the content is no good.

Directory Submissions – Submitting your website to directories is a must, however there is a plethora of directories (both free and paid), therefore choosing the correct directories is crucial. You should always start with the three largest free directories, DMOZ, this is a large directory that is utilised by many other websites and managed by volunteer editors (it may take some time for your website to appear here). Google directory is also a must and again there is no charge to be added, Google will find your site anyway at some point but it is always best to go to Google.com/submiturl.html and do it manually. Yahoo will let non commercial sites list for free, however commercial sites must pay $299.

There are thousands of fee based directories, my pick of the bunch are Gimpsy ($30 one off fee), GoGuides ($39.99) and JoeAnt ($39.99). There are many others that can be found easily through a Google search but are too numerous to list here.

Blogging – We all know what blogs are and how effective they can be. The idea here is to start your own blog (Blogger or WordPress are the two main blog sites), make sure you update it regularly and create interesting and compelling content. A blog can then get a life of its own, earning Page Rank and ultimately allowing you to create backlinks to your website.

Social Bookmarks – Social bookmarking websites like Del.icio.us, reddit, Digg, Furl and StumbleUpon (there are lots of others) basically allow users to bookmark pages on the Internet that they are interested in. Social bookmarks are however public, therefore the more people that bookmark your website the more popular it will become and therefore the rank will increase.

Press Releases – The final method of link building considered here is via online press releases. This is an excellent way of building backlinks providing you have something newsworthy to write about. There are various websites such as PRWeb, PRZoom and Free-Press-Release that will allow you to submit press releases with links in them.

Remember, the best method of getting natural links is to make link worthy content on your website. Maybe put up a free game of e-book. This will naturally make people want to link to you – the best links are the best links are those that happen naturally anyway.

You can get targeted key word traffic without battling high competition. I may have mentioned this before without going into detail. The solution is to get misspelled words, connotations and derivatives of highly searched key words or phrase in your niche. less competitive keywords bring less traffic when used solo. They are searched for less. High traffic is accomplished by using “the sum of many less competitive keywords.” One keyword may bring in only 300 clicks monthly. Fifty -100 less competitive keywords in total, would bring you 15,000 to 30,000 clicks per month. That’s not a whole lot, however it can put you on the map. You’ll probably find a keyword that can easily bring you 1,000 clicks monthly and have low competition. Optimize that keyword on your site and try to promote a lot more keywords of the same caliber. You can create a tornado with a conglomerate of little breezes, so to speak..

Yes it ‘s tedious work, but it’s not like breaking stones or lifting cargo. You’ll find yourself reading and typing, for longer periods of time. How difficult can that really be?

Let’s look at the keyword selection process as an example. First we must acknowledge our chosen niche. For lack of a better name, this example will be done in the pizza niche. Of course this SEO example can be done in any niche, but for the sake of an example, imagine you’re a pizza store owner. You want people to come to your store and by your pizza. The first thing I suggest here is to think like a potential customer. What is the phrase the potential customer would put into a search engine to find pizza?

The phrase “I want pizza” may be appropriate. Go to your favorite keyword tool. (mine is Google Keyword Tools). Assuming your in Google Keyword Tools, (just for this example) put the phrase “I want pizza” into the search and see what comes up. You should see a rather large list of words relating to pizza. Listed will be the Search Volume which means the average amount of searches done on each word or phrase monthly. In this case the word “Pizza” is popular with a lot of competition, to the tune of 37,000,000 searches monthly. That may be too much competition for you right now. Put the word “Pizza” in the search engine and you can see on the upper right corner (in Google) how many listings there are pertaining to that word. At the time of this writing, there are 122,000,000 listings in Google for the word “Pizza.” That’s competition. Look at your Tools and you may find a less competitive phrase like “find pizza.” Currently, there are only 9,900 searches monthly for that phrase. It’s a lot easier to get a high rank then competing with the 37,000,00 searches that the word pizza has. Put the phrase “find pizza,” into the search engine and see how many listings there are. This time put parenthesis before and after the phrase to tell the search engine that you are looking for exactly and nothing other then “find pizza.” I found 193,000 listings for that phrase. It’s still a bit steep, but a lot easier to compete with rather then 122,000,000 listing. Do you get the general idea? Repeat the process until you find numbers you are comfortable with.

You must be able to see that keyword selection is basically a game of numbers. The idea in this article is finding a bunch of relevant keywords. Then evaluate your ability compete, by looking at how many listings and searches where done. There are fancy programs able do this with one or two clicks. If you don’t have a fancy program it can be done manually. It usually takes a lot of time to come up with hundreds of low competitive keywords, but it’s well worth the hassle.

We all want our pages and web sites to rank as high as possible on search engines. It’s usually best if we can have the result on the first page and also it’s bets if it’s for a relevant keyword or key phrase. So how can we achieve such a goal? Search Engine Optimization or SEO is all about this. Below I will present you the best 3 methods through which you can optimize your websites.

1. Link Building

Link building is the most basic and most vital component of the entire search optimization process. Links are gold for search engines. But gold has many properties. There can be lots of gold or just a bit. There can be pure gold and less pure gold. Finally gold can be put under the form of a beautiful jewel, increasing its value or it can be a shapeless bit. All these are also true for links.

You want to have lots of links. The more the better. Take a look at your adversaries. How many backlinks do they have? You will need more. Do the best you can to post your link all over the place. Get linked, spread the word about what your page and be sure that people know you exist through links.

You will want to have high quality backlinks. Search engine optimization is all about quality. A link from an anonymous website will have no value while one from a widely known and highly ranking site will be invaluable. Be selective and go for the best.

Finally you will want your links to be placed in a nice context. Don’t use anchors like “Click me”. Use instead relevant key phrases. Also, it’s very important that the text around your link is somehow related to the content of your own site.

2. Tags Optimization

Remember all those meta tags you kind of overlook while you code? Inside that HTML file of yours, in the head section you can always find meta tags. Two of the most important such tags are the “Keywords” and “Description” ones. But there are many others as well.

The values you attribute can make the difference between right ad wrong. Spiders crawling your site will first of all look at your title tag and at your meta tags. Make sure they contain relevant keywords, which are important and related to your content.

3. Keyword among content

This might sound a bit obvious, but don’t try to score high for a keyword which can be found nowhere in the content of your page. Does your page talk about nature? Then you will have high results among nature related keywords. Use the keywords in your content!

These are all simple methods, but when used right they can achieve great results!

Coding websites is no longer a problem these days. So many pre-built platforms, so many blog solutions and the cheap cost of hiring someone else to do it for you no longer justify investing that much time in the coding process.

What truly matters today is connecting your pages to the world, to the network, transforming your ordinary page into a Web page. How better can you attract visitors, traffic and acknowledgment than through search engines? Search engines are the key to the progress of your website, so what you need to start doing is the search engine optimization or SEO.

Below I’ll present you 5 tips which will help you optimize in a more productive manner, more efficiently and with less time investment. So here it goes:

Tip #1
Get tons of backlinks! Link building is the heart of search engine optimization. The more links you have incoming to your site the more you will be appreciated by the search engines. One thing you might not hear that often is that the quality of the websites linking to you is 1000 times more important than the number of sites which do. So go for quality not for quantity!

Tip #2
Blogs are gold! Don’t submit to web directories, don;t spend your money on some cheap solution! Simply comment on blogs which have content related to your content. Do this and you will have invaluable backlinks and incredible results.

Tip #3
Don’t bother that much with the keywords tag. Spiders and crawlers are not stupid! They do read the content and they judge you on that, not based on some deprecated tag! Rather than spending your time improving your tags, improve your content.

Tip #4
Having a link on a page where there are 1000 more links won’t help you at all. This is why web directories aren’t that great. Yes, you get a backlink but on a website which gives backlinks to thousands of other sites. All that value is shared and split between you all, becoming insignificant. So go for the real thing! Try to get your link posted in context, in relevant places not on some cheap web directory.

Tip #5
Among all tags on your site the title tag is the most important one! I know you probably haven’t heard this before, but it’s on of the most overlooked facts of search engine optimization. If you have the right keyword in your title it will matter much much more than if you have it inside some meta tag.

These were 5 very simple tips. But don’t get fooled! Simple is best when talking about search engines. Follow these easy steps and you will see huge improvements with minimum time investment.

There are a small number of places around the world these days that do not have the internet and getting your site to go global takes some work. The internet is used in various ways across the globe, and if you are online to do business each person online is a prospective client. Business is no longer limited to a certain group when the entire world has access to your products and services.

It used to be exceptionally simple to get your products out there and get sales. Things have changed though, now there are literally millions of websites each providing content in a variety of ways. All these different avenues of presenting content have made things a little more complicated and now it takes a little more to get your website found, this has also created the need for various tools on the internet for people to simplify the process.

Without search sites the incredible amount of information on the internet would mostly be worthless, because no one would be able to locate it. A search site is an online interface that is used to search keywords entered in a field by users to find relevant content. Online business must be able to be located in the vast amount of content and websites offering comparable products.

Search Engine Optimization is the techniques used to design a website to maximize the potential of the website being found and most importantly ranked by the search engines.

There are basically two ways websites are located on search sites. The first way is through organic searches and that is when a keyword or keyword phrase is typed in and searched. Then the website is visited through one of the listing on the search engine. The second way a website might be found on a search engine is paid per click advertising, and this is where an advertiser pays to have their link listed on the search engine then pay a pre-determined amount per click. To gain an edge over other websites for a particular organic search, a website will incorporate search engine optimization.

The disadvantage and problem is that search engine optimization has been misused and taken advantage of. This in turn has created two types or categories of SEO the first being “white hat SEO” and that is the legitimate way and then there is “black hat SEO” that uses tactics to that are not ethical and manipulate the search engines.

While there are many ways of getting paid traffic, a website that is SEO is more interested in increasing traffic and visitors through the organic search listings. Organic searches will display results regardless of whether they are paid advertising of not. What SEO basically does to increase the search engine ranking is concentrate on a specific keyword or keyword phrase.

By focusing on improving the overall website content in order to generate a higher ranking or listing on the search engines creates better content. Making clean, simple code aimed at delivering the content to the websites visitors to the website. A clean simple code makes it easier for the search websites crawlers to decipher the relationships between the pages and the keywords. By providing relevant content that is concentrated on delivering information to the visitors, ultimately the website will gain ranking on the search engines.

Relevance is the key in trying to make sure traffic is directed towards the business’s website. Longevity can be attained amidst the various trends that alter the World Wide Web by providing relevant content.

It seems that we have all made similar mistakes when it comes to search engine optimization and ended up with horrendous rankings. Our goal was to build an awesome website with all the right elements that would put it at the top of the page only to find out we are nowhere to be found. If this has ever happened to you or you simply do not want to repeat the mistakes of others this article will give you tremendous insight into the do’s and don’ts of search engine optimization.

Link Spamming Will Get You Flagged

Links are very important, but only links that are relevant to your site. Meaning, the sites that you are linked to should have the same keywords or relevant content that would appeal to your target customer. Using automated software to find relevant links and send link invites is cool, but in the end you must look at the site and determine its relevance. Rule #1 then is; do not link your site to a site that is not relevant to your content or content that that your potential customer is searching for. You should know this if you have done a thorough keyword study. Here is the bottom-line irrelevant links will get you irrelevant search ranking.

Most people do not realize the intelligence of the search engine bots. Through highly sophisticated mathematical algorithms they can scan your site and who you are to in milliseconds analyzing hundreds of variables. If the bot determines that your site is nothing but a “link pharm”, all the work you have put into the development of your site is for naught. Unless you think you are smarter that a room full of M.I.T math whizzes you should not try to fool the search engine.

Stuff the Turkey Not Your Website

Loading your pages with keywords is big no-no #2. One of the easiest equations for the search engine to figure out is total word count of your page and the ratio o keywords. If you have more that 2% of your total text as your keywords your site will get penalized. Your reader will see that you are more interested in SEO and not in what they want. The search engines call this tactic keyword spamming and you don’t want any part of it.

When writing your content limit keywords to less than 2% of your total content and you should stay well within the guidelines of the search engine optimization rules. This means that you can use the term in the domain, in the title, the description, in each paragraph (in different tenses) and in the resource box if it is an article. Violation of this rule will get you sandbagged by the search engine and the customer…this is really insane, yes?

Do Not Make Your Site A Flea Market

It is true that once a customer buys from you that they will continue to buy from you if you continue to build a relationship with them. Limit your product offerings in the beginning and then expand your customer’s selection once they have bought. It is very true that if you give your customer too much information they will go away dazed and confused which is the opposite of what we are trying to achieve. Avoid mistake #3 which is called the “flea market” rule! Your site should be serving a highly targeted audience. If you had twelve products, it might be better to break your site into four mini sites and have specific strategies for each one.

Try Not To Make Your Site Look Like A Star Wars Exhibit

If you really want to scare your customers away use lots of flashy presentations and graphics. Serious buyers usually have their images turned off on their browsers and abhor websites with a website that says “be patient while the presentation loads’. Search engine spiders are blind to graphics so relevant pictures mean diddly-squat. The only thing the spider will pick up is the name of the picture holder which should be relevant to your content. If search engines can’t see the fancy presentation and it is proven that your potential customers number one do not like them, number two do not have the plugins installed to play them…why would you spend the money on a website that ‘flashes’ your customer?

If you follow these four rules and answer these three questions; what it is, what it does and how your visitor can get on board with what you are offering you will beat out 90% of your competition. SEO is a science with rules that are established by the search engines. Ignore them at your own peril.

Search engine optimization is a time consuming process, but in the same time no website will have a real future without it. Developers spend almost ten times more time optimizing their websites than they spend actually coding them.

If you’ll take a look at how the Internet looks these days you will surely notice that there are fewer and fewer business sites which are not either based on a blog platform or an e-commerce one. So where’s the problem? Well, the less seen and less discussed issue about blog based pages is that they require tons of optimization after they have been developed. However this is not a disaster if dealt with appropriately.

So what do you do to minimize your time expenditure? It’s so simple – use tools! There are thousands of search engine optimization tools out there and most of them work really great. In the following paragraphs we’ll analyze the basic tools’ categories which can make the difference for you.

First problem you will have to deal with is to check your page rank. After all you are constantly changing the content of your website and you are trying to make everything better and optimal. So the main tool you need is a page rank checker. You want to keep track of your progress, see what has a positive effect, what has a negative one, what has an important impact and which modifications are insignificant.

A second tool you will want is a tag generator. HTML meta tags are hugely important for your website. Do you want to show up on important and relevant key phrases and keywords? Include them in your tags and include them appropriately. All those tags need to be configured correctly, so why do it manually?

Links are the gold of search engine optimization. This is why one of the most important tools you need to own is a backlink checker. You can easily see which are the links which go out from your site. But how can you check the links which come to it. Outgoing links can be easily found without using any tool, but the incoming ones will require the use of a specialized SEO tool.

It’s also important to have your content validated. Search engines spiders are very sensitive and will appreciate a perfect syntax site. So get a XHTML validator, a Javascript validator and HTML validator. These will all check how correct your syntax is and which are the spots which have lacks.

Don’t forget that time is the most valuable possession so don’t waste it! Use these automated tools and make your life easier, save your time and perfect your web pages. Search engine optimization is vital, but it should never be a burden!

In a slumped economy and customers thinning out across all margins of industry, the Internet is an easy choice to help grow your business on a smaller budget. Knowing you need to take action sooner than later it can be easy to all of a sudden become overwhelmed with the different companies, their offers, and more importantly, their reputation.

Chances are you have done some searching online already with the terms “Google ranking”, “SEO company”, “search engine optimization”, and other variances. Finding a company to help your rankings in these top popular results have their pros and cons.

The pro is if you found the SEO company at the top of the search engine listings then this company can more than likely get you the position you are seeking as well. Pretty much the proof is in the pudding, right?

The con is the fact that they have their prominent position, they also know they are a more valuable asset to a company seeking services, so they will charge more, a lot more. Another reason for the rate increase for these high ranking companies is to help control customer volume. Many of these searches reach millions a month.

Nobody wants to pay for second rate services, but for many seeking optimization services, they believe that if an SEO company isn’t prominent in a popular search they aren’t any good. This is not necessarily the case, as a matter of fact a good portion of these companies spend so much time working with their clients getting them good rankings that they simply just use an AdWords campaign for a week on Google to grab a few extra clients when necessary and then fall back into the shadows doing what they do best.

You may wonder why would a company not need to rank well in the search engines but still get their customers well ranked and that answer is actually a simple one. What keeps a good SEO company in business isn’t a constant flow of customers but rather the customers they are able to retain. Any one company can grab a new customer but when they are able to sustain their business with current clients month after month and year after year that can be just as much proof as a high ranking optimization firm in the search results.

So what are the signs of a good SEO company? How do you find them? Well, these few ending tips should help you find that gem in the vast haystack of companies. Do not give up your search and be sure to ask plenty of questions.

1. Ask to look at the company’s client base. While some clients may wish to not be disclosed, you should be able to get a good enough amount of clients to contact and verify quality of services.

2. Ask the company how many clients they currently retain. A good number would be 70% and anything higher better. Retained customers is proof of a good track record.

3. Make sure the company has been in business for at least three years or more. The longer in service, the more it shows they have been able to afford to stick around.

4. Another sign of a great SEO company is if they offer no contract or sign up fees. This shows confidence in their work and their ability to provide results and makes the case of retained clients even stronger.
A real quality SEO company will have a solid client base and not require set up costs or a contract. We just happen to know of a company with a 98% client retention rate and who doesn’t use gimmicks or contracts to keep their customers. This firm has friendly English speaking professionals and is 100% operated within the USA in Silicon Valley, CA. They are affordable, courteous, and even give away free no obligation comprehensive ranking reports. We highly recommend this search engine optimization company to everyone. Professional DMOZ submissions come with all of their packages which start as low as $50.00 a month. Oh, and even better, they have no cancellation fees either.

SEO is more complicated than you think. It is a set of tasks based on established techniques to increase your sites relevancy with the objective of getting a higher search engine ranking for your website. It also involves eliminating or minimizing obstacles that hinder search engines from indexing your website’s pages. Giving focus on what these set of activities would do, the following paragraphs will give you an idea of how SEO affects the overall make up of your web pages.

Keywords

SEO involves assigning or determining the most effective keyword use and selection to get a high ranking for your website. It will involve not only modifying your website’s content but also would identify the strongest types and set of keywords to work on your website.

Keywords describe the content of your web pages. SEO efforts are not only done to assign specific keywords for best results but also focus on the proper placement, density and usage of these keywords on your website. Centers of focus are noticed in the way your keywords appear on the following:

o Your meta tags
o Your titles
o Your content body
o Image ALT tags
o Hyperlinks

Body Text

Certain keyword frequency rates are observed in different parts of your web page content. Effective placement and the number of keywords play a major role in search engine optimization. In as much as keywords define your website content, it is also important in showing search engines that your website has positive composition. However, care must be observed in doing this. A mere concentration or repetition of keywords on your website would not only discount the value of keywords used on your website but could also be interpreted by search engines as spamming.

SEO follows measures so that boundaries are not crossed and that keyword placement and frequency is regulated. The activities would be evident in the obvious emphasis and use of your main keywords in your website’s texts.

Other engagement objects

The use of engagement objects is highly recommended to optimize your web pages. SEO professionals find ways so that whatever type of presentation (image, video and text) you prefer to show on your website, the search engines will still find it easy to index your pages. This part of SEO, as with working on HTML on your meta tags, is highly technical. It deals with modifying scripts to enable search engine crawlers to read even scripts and languages that are not search engine friendly. Optimizing every component that is present on your web page is dealt with to get the best possible results.

In a nutshell, SEO modifies each component that is on your web page. It is done in such a way that even the less visible parts of a web page is made search engine friendly so that crawlers can favorably index your pages. It used to be that search engines can only read text on web pages but with technological advancement, it is now possible to encourage indexing even in non-text content on a web page. This provides more opportunity for SEO professionals to get the most out of SEO tactics applied to a web page.

You have a website. Now you need to improve your ranking on the search engines. Better ranking will generate more traffic to your site, visitors who have an interest in buying your product or service. Consider hiring an (SEO) company. The right SEO service provider will understand how search engines work and can customize their efforts to your individual website. Most SEO companies offer their services in packages. You’ll be able to choose the package that best meets your needs and budget.

The SEO Process
The SEO Company you choose should provide an initial website analysis that determines how you are currently ranking on the search engines and identifies opportunities for improvement. With that evaluation in hand, the SEO company can create an action plan to tackle some of the tasks involved in increasing your website’s visibility. These may include any or all of the following:

- Keyword research
- Directory submissions
- Search engine submissions
- Inbound links
- Additional website content using your keywords
- Articles for e-zine sites using your keywords with links back to your site

A dedicated project manager or marketing specialist at the SEO firm should set monthly objectives for your website and keep you apprised of the progress being made.

SEO Is Not a One-Time Job
Many businesses create their website and then never add to it or update it. Unfortunately, that’s not enough in today’s competitive online world. And that applies most of all to search engine optimization.

SEO is not a one-time job. It’s an ongoing process, more marathon than sprint. New keywords need to be researched. Links should continually be added. And keyword-rich articles should be posted often. The search engines are watching and will reward your efforts with improved ranking. In essence, the more work put into SEO, the better the results. That’s why hiring a professional SEO service provider is the best strategy for long-term success.

The Best SEO Service Providers Will Track Your Progress
A quality SEO service provider will provide you with frequent reports that show how your website is performing. You’ll be able to see progress as your site moves up on the search engines for the keywords you’ve identified. You’ll also be able to compare your site’s positioning with that of your competition. The results of search engine optimization are tangible and measureable. Insist on seeing the data. The more you know, the better decisions you can make.

Hire Only Skilled, Ethical SEO Service Providers
As in any industry, some SEO service providers are good, and others are not. The best SEO service providers will have a comprehensive understanding of all aspects of SEO, not just one, such as link building.

You also want to choose an SEO firm that uses ethical means to improve your website’s search engine rankings. Avoid companies that use techniques like keyword stuffing, doorway pages and invisible text. While those methods may work in the short term, they’re likely to eventually get you penalized (ranking lowered) or even banned completely on the search engines. Interview multiple SEO service providers and select a company that is committed to SEO best practices and has a track record of success.

If you work in the web community you’ve probably heard a lot about search engine optimization, also known as SEO. While the term is used quite often, there are very few people who actually use it the right way. It’s very easy to state that you are doing SEO or that you are a search engine optimization expert or guru. The truth, unfortunately, is that this is the easiest way to hide behind a word.

SEO is actually a very simple concept and you can easily implement it for your own websites. It’s all about ranking high on Google, Yahoo or others. So let’s take it step by step, split it in parts and thoroughly understand all that lays beneath this complex term.

First of all how does a search engine work? This is a vital question. Well, a search engine is nothing more but a website. It’s probably not that different from your. The only extra feature it has are the spiders. Spiders or crawlers are scripts which simply browse the Internet looking for content. They try to simulate users or visitors and attempt to to understand and visualize the content just like you would. They do this in order to make sure that you in turn will like what you will see when you check out the results. In simple words, a search engine will return as results the web pages which contain the most relevant content for you as a visitor interested in a specific topic.

So how can you use this information as a developer? It’s nothing about strange strategies, hidden methods and nifty techniques. It’s all actually common sense. If you will create content and pages which a user would find useful and relevant, then the search engines will see this through their spiders and rank you high. So regarding the way you format and edit your content just use common sense! Would you like to see that page? Would you find it useful? If the answer is yes it means that your page is optimized for search engines as well.

So there is just one simple small secret left to be uncovered. Let’s presume that your page and some other page have equally great content on the exact same niche. Which one will rank higher on that niche’s key phrases? Here Google and Yahoo and all the other search engines apply a special algorithm. The exact formula is not that important, but what truly matters is what it means – you will rank higher if you have more (and more valuable) incoming links than your opponent. That’s it! Just get your link spread on the Internet. Comment on blogs, submit your website to web directories and make people notice you.

So after all SEO is not as complicated as it might first seem. Just follow the common sense when writing and get tons of valuable backlinks

It’s no secret that the key to making money online is quality targeted traffic. Possibly the most cost effective way to achieve your goals is to obtain this traffic via natural or ‘organic’ search. Now before, we even attain any rankings, it is crucial to get your site indexed and listed in the search engines. Search engines have an online form which you can fill out to add your URL, however this can generally take weeks if not months. The most effective way is to get indexed via sites that have good authority and those which are indexed on a regular basis. This will allow the crawlers to visit your site quicker. Below are a few of the most popular techniques that are employed;

Article Directories
Because article directories such as EzineArticles have authority in Google’s eyes, you will often find that once your article is approved, it tends to get indexed in Google within 24 hours. You can check this by typing site: “your article url”. If this is displayed then chances are that Google has indexed your URL as well. It doesn’t show up straightaway in some cases but you can almost be certain that the spiders have visited your site, this is assuming you have included the website link in your bio.

Forum Signatures
Signing up to high PageRank credible forums can get you indexed very quickly. Have personally signed up forums and had my URL indexed within 4 minutes, this isn’t the norm but you can generally expect to be indexed within 24-48 hours.

RSS Submission
There are plenty of RSS directories where you can submit your XML feed to. This is a great way to get your site content picked up quickly.

Social Bookmarking
Sites such as Digg are loved by Google’s crawlers and they tend to live on those pages. Its always a good idea to use social bookmarking as part of your indexing and backlinking strategy.

Web 2.0 Properties
Sites such as Hubpages and Squidoo are another example of credible sites that Google likes, it is also worth submitting your content to these. Not only do they help in getting indexed but can give you some much needed quality backlinks.

Pinging
Once you have submitted your URL to the various properties mentioned above, it is a good idea to ‘ping’ them. This is just a simple way of letting the search engines know that your site exists and acts as a gentle reminder. Pinging can be quite powerful so it is a good idea not to overdo this as it can get you banned for being a spammer. If you have a WordPress blog, this facility is built in.

Hopefully the above mentioned techniques should help you get indexed quickly in Google and various other search engines as well as give you some inbound links. To your success.

Larger websites will usually need to implement much more intricate campaigns and their webmasters will have different resources in any case, so we will just ignore them for now. So here is some information on how you can promote your website:

1. Creating a good title and description. These are called meta tags and can be seen in the source of your website. The third meta tag, the keyword meta is no longer relevant for indexing for the main search engines Google and Yahoo. Your title should be up to 60-70 characters (anything longer than that will be cut off) while the descriptions should be no longer than 155 characters (this includes spacing). Anything longer than that will be cut off with three dots. The descriptions will typically appear in search results, so take some time to write something marketing oriented, something that will draw visitors to your website and make them click on your link rather than the competitors.

2. Researching and choosing keywords. Put yourself in your target audience’s shoes. What words or terms would they use to find you? Make a list of these words and check them out using various tools. Google trends and Google AdWords are a good place to start. Weigh the relevance of the keyword against the number of times its searched in a specific timeframe and once again, against the number and quality of the competition over the ranking for that keyword. For small to medium sized websites, I recommend you choose between 3-7 keywords and focus on them. Also, make sure you have a certain amount of texts on your website. Adding at least 400 words to your home page and another 200-250 words to the rest of your website is recommended.

3. Don’t Spam. Don’t overuse the keywords. The best way to use them is the most natural as an organic part of your content. To give them a push, integrate them into your description and title, use them in your headers, but don’t spam. Overusing them will deteriorate the quality of your texts and the quality of your website, and this will have a much greater impact, a negative one on your ranking as well.

4. Understanding Page Rank. The page rank was given its name after Larry Page who is one of the originators of Google. The page rank is determined by a series of algorithms and criteria which I won’t get into in this guide, but I will say that it is an assessment by Google of the importance of the web page. Page ranks vary from 0-10, while 10 basically belongs to Google. Wikipedia and the Apple site for example, have a 9 page rank. Links are a critical part of building a page rank. The more inbound links you have pointing at your website, and the better their sources, the more link juice you’ll be getting. This means, that if you have a link from Wikipedia or some other website with a high page rank it will be worth more than a link from an unimportant web page. Links that are used often will also matter more than an unused orphaned link. Using the same logic, if you use a link farm and link to your website from it, it will probably not benefit your web page ranking.

5. Create a flat architecture. Try to use as few layers as possible. If you’ve managed to get a good page rank for your homepage it will trickle down to the second and third layers. Try to create a situation in which any page on your website can be reached with a maximum of 3-4 clicks. This is also good for your users.

6. Refresh your content. The more activity on a page, the better. Google (and the other search engines) assume that it is an active and relevant page and it will improve your ranking. The more you refresh your page the more often Google will visit your website and crawl it.

7. Anchor Links. By using links anchored in texts you are informing Google what your website is about. For example, I could write, if you want free website templates visit GlobalTemplates, you’ll find some great templates there. The best links are anchored in the text as part of a paragraph. This is because Google assumes they have the highest relevance.

8. Not happy with how long its taking Google to index you? Submit your website manually. You can submit your website manually to both Google and Yahoo. To submit your website to Google, visit this page and submit your website to Yahoo here. This will shorten the process of getting your website indexed significantly and its free!
